"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
French troops do something other than surrender Apparently, the French have chosen hypocisy over cowardice in the Ivory Coast. They are sending in more troops and have apparently fired weapons at a protest. I dunno... doesn't this seem rather, I don't know, unilateral? Shouldn't they have gotten UN permission? Aren't they imposing on sovereignity? Oh, that's right--the Ivory Coast used to be a French colony, so somehow that gives them the right. To be honest, I'm all for France doing what they're doing. But for them to get all huffy about what the US is doing in the Middle East, and then to turn around and do this is really bordering on despicable.
