"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
Human sheep--er, shields Lemmings is more like it. These people make me sick. As do these. I don't usually use invectives in what is supposed to be thoughtful commentary, but these people are morons.
"A country that can hardly provide water for its citizens cannot be a threat to the world," Ignacio Cano of Spain said.
No, it's not like Saddam's been spending money on being a threat to the world, rather than providing water, is it? Not a good benevolent tyrant like Saddam? Of course his first priority is the wellbeing of his citizens! Fools like this have no real understanding of evil.
"I have no intention of being a martyr," Canadian Roberta Taman said. "I'm here because I believe that the world wants peace and that we can achieve peace."
But, of course, you don't mind it if the Iraqi people become martyrs to your cause--your demented, misguided, and utterly foolish cause that is nothing more than keeping a megalomaniac in power.
Try being a human shield for the people Saddam kills--oh, but then you'd end up a martyr, which you have no intention of being. Cowards.
