"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
You'll laugh so hard you'll cry Did you hear the one about the Franco-German plan for Iraq that involved the UN occupying the country to protect inspectors? No, seriously, that's apparently the plan. It is a stupid plan, as explained in more detail here, here, here and here. Will it work? Of course not, in the sense that it won't peacefully difuse the situation (it may well diffuse the situation, but it won't end up being peaceful, and if it does stay peaceful, then there's no way the situation will be diffused.) But that, of course, is not the point of this plan, which is not anti-Saddam, but anti-America. It is both sad, pathetic, hilarious and very, very dangerous, all at once.
Meanwhile, France is still denying that there is a plan.
