"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
This is cool This also has been blogged about before, but the Navy is using specially trained dolphins (and seals, though the article doesn't mention that) to clear mines outside of Umm Qasr. I'm told they were used in the first Gulf War also. This is immensely cool. It's like one of those eco-friendly sci-fi stories where Mankind and Dolphinkind live together happily. Of course, this is real life, so Mankind is in charge, and people who write eco-friendly sci-fi stories are outraged, but it's still darn cool.
