"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
Mubarak was right Mubarak was right about one thing. This war did produce 100 more Bin Ladens. More than that, even. Thousands, I'd estimate. Why is that? Because I think Bin Laden's dead. As are a good portion of the angry Islamic fundamentalists roiled up enough by the the liberation of Iraq to kill people over it.
People who complain that this war is only going to increase terrorism against the US are missing a key factor. The people who are furious enough to do something about the situation in Iraq are... well, going to Iraq. Their fighting Coalition troops. And they're dying.
"These non-Iraq fighters are a problem, but a decreasing one," said a senior military officer, who spoke to UPI on condition of anonymity. "It is decreasing because we are killing them."
