"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
Scoring position I was going to post a lament about the Mariners and their apparent inability to hit with runners in scoring position--of whom they have had plenty. Baseball Musings had a good musing about the problem we've been having, pointing out that "if I had to have a problem with my offense, this would be it."
But it's right now the bottom of the first, and the M's have hit 3 times in a row, with men in scoring position, and it looks like we're well on our way to another Ranger-drubbing. We've had one of these before, though, and I hoped it would be the confindence inducer that would set us on our way for the rest of the season. That obviously didn't happen. But, this is a good sign any way you slice it.
Now they're taking out Drieze, with only a third of an inning pitched. His ERA is now 135.00. That's harsh. But he's a Ranger, so it's ok.
