The Flag of the World

-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy

This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.

Scoring position
I was going to post a lament about the Mariners and their apparent inability to hit with runners in scoring position--of whom they have had plenty. Baseball Musings had a good musing about the problem we've been having, pointing out that "if I had to have a problem with my offense, this would be it."

But it's right now the bottom of the first, and the M's have hit 3 times in a row, with men in scoring position, and it looks like we're well on our way to another Ranger-drubbing. We've had one of these before, though, and I hoped it would be the confindence inducer that would set us on our way for the rest of the season. That obviously didn't happen. But, this is a good sign any way you slice it.

Now they're taking out Drieze, with only a third of an inning pitched. His ERA is now 135.00. That's harsh. But he's a Ranger, so it's ok.
