"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
Why a book? Orrin Judd considers author Gerald Posner a trustworthy source in his claims about Al-Quaida, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. I am inclined to do the same (go read Orrin's post to see why), but I am hung up on the fact that Posner chose to publish these earthshattering accusations and revelations in a book, rather than via the much quicker and generally more listened to route of the regular press. For the life of me, I will not understand why someone with such information would bother to write a book about it, rather than take it to CNN or Fox, unless their story is stretched, embellished or just plain made up. That can happen in journalism too, of course, but it at least appears more credible, and is certainly more widespread than a mere book.
