"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
Iraqi blogs If you haven't been to Healing Iraq, the Baghdad-based blog by a dentist named Zeyad, then you really ought to. You also ought to go to The Mesopotamian, by an engineer, and Iraq at a Glance, by another dentist, the blogs of two of Zeyad's friends that he convinced to begin blogging. They have absolutely marvelous things to say, and I hope the media begins paying attention to them. They are, for the most part, very optimistic about the future of Iraq and thankful to America--a nice counterweight to the pessimism of Riverbend and the original Baghdad blogger, now rarely updated, Salam Pax--both of whom should also be read, as it happens.
