"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
A victory for appeasement. A victory for cowardice. The Spanish people demonstrated today that they have no courage.
I shudder to think what this will mean for other elections--not least of which our own. I hope that terrorists aren't so foolish as to think that Americans will be swayed the way the Spanish were... but then, they didn't become terrorists because they were wise. Al Quaeda is almost certain to try something just before the American election as well, and though it will probably help Bush, I hope we are able to stop it. Even if it means Kerry wins.
Thanks for your help, Spain. Thanks so very, very much.
