"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
Lily-livered al-Qaeda lovers Yesterday's media blitz about the beheading of Nicholas Berg by al-Qaeda terrorists proves that the Vietnam War turned the American media into a bunch of (pardon the sexism) yellow-bellied sissies. While some view this tragedy with shock and dismay, much of our media is telling it in a "fair, balanced" manner which falls just short of equating a savage beheading with making an enemy soldier stand on a box. Yes, the abuse of Iraqi prisoners is wrong, and yes, the soldiers responsible should answer for their actions, but good grief, people! It does not justify a beheading! And our irresponsible media should be baying for blood, as if they were, oh, I don't know, somehow answerable to justice, honor, and truth, rather than the thinly veiled America-hating cowardice that passes these days for balanced reporting.

You tell'um. It is nice to see that Tim is getting hitched to a lady who can match his rhetoric. Nice work.
