"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
Kerry Klub in trouble
For the second week in a row, one of Kerry's foreign policy advisors is in a heap o' trouble--and this time it could be criminal. If you've been living under a rock the past week--or, say, just watching network news--let me bring you up to speed. Joe Wilson, the man whose webpage can be reached via http://www.johnkerry.com/honesty, the man who titled his book The Politics of Truth, has been exposed as a partisan, pathological liar of the worst sort. Wilson was a foreign policy advisor for Kerry, as well as a surrogate campaigner for a time.
Now, another foreign policy advisor, former Clinton national security adviser Samuel "Sandy" Berger (that makes him sound just like a criminal, doesn't it?) is under investigation by the Justice department for "inadvertantly" taking and "losing" classified terrorism-related documents from the National Archives while preparing for the 9-11 Commission testimony. Berger's "oops, I accidentally took classified documents not once but twice, and not one but many" defense is just the sort of thing that would have worked in the Clinton administration... but somehow I don't think it will work with Ashcroft's crew.
So, who's the next Kerry Klub member to be outed as a liar or a criminal? Only time will tell.
