"The world is not a lodging-house at Brighton, which we are to leave because it is miserable. It is the fortress of our family, with the flag flying on the turret, and the more miserable it is the less we should leave it."
-G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
This here blog is a glimpse or two or three at the condition of the 'fortress of our family' through the eyes Timothy Goddard, a Christian writer with an unhealthy interest in politics living in the Puget Sound area.
I'm just enjoying this too much...
I'm downright impressed with just how fabulously poorly the Kerry campaign is handling this whole Swift Boat thing. I guess eight years of Clinton deftly ducking scandal after scandal gave me an inflated view of Democratic political skill. Because, man--Kerry just sucks at this. And there's no other way to put it.
First, his campaign pressures the publisher of Unfit for Command to stop selling it. Yeah, right--it's still #1 at Amazon, and they just got a brand new tagline: "The book John Kerry wants to censor!"
And now, he's filed a complaint with the FEC, claiming that Bush is somehow "illegally coordinating" with the Swift Boat Vets. This is possibly the funniest thing I've heard all week, and Kerry's been serving the unintentional humor up left and right. If an undecided voter hasn't seen the new, potentially more devastating ad yet, then they will now, thanks to Kerry himself.
